{{tag>notes}} ====== Trouble In Freystrand ====== During the rush to return to Freystrand the group agreed they should decide no a name for themselves and decided to call themselves the Reckless Renegades. On our way back to town we stopped at the mill to gather the remainder of the wood we had ordered for the festival. While approaching Freystrand we noticed a flickering orange glow coming from the center of town and began hearing yelling as we got closer. There was no sign of smoke so we determined it must be torches. As we came to the center of town there was a large group of townsfolk gathered in front of the Mayor and Sherriff and appeared to be very unhappy. Beckett and Amos noticed an area West of the townsfolk just outside town that was dark beyond darkness. Almost as if light was being absorbed. Coming up to the town leaders, we found out the crowd was angry that the Mayor isn't making a decision. Amos spoke to Sherriff Irons and found out the commotion happened before the odd area of darkness. It started when the Diveer's daughter was missing and discovered in the odd camp outside of town that we encountered before. Townsfolk attempted to go get her from the camp and the area of darkness popped up as a barrier that they can not cross. The Reckless Renegades agree to go to investigate and see about getting the Diveer's daughter back. Approaching the camp, we noticed there were also large protrusions from the ground around the darkness. Spikes sticking out of the ground in pairs. A barrier dome was in the middle where the camp had been, absorbing all the light and sound. Eliwick tries to touch the barrier with various sticks, trying to push through it. The sticks hit what feels like a wall that starts absorbing the color of the stick when it's touching. Beckett recalls reading about similar barriers that the Kingdom of Nul uses to protect or conceal themselves. Remembering their leader from our last visit to Freystrand, he tries to send a Message to him, but receives no response. Eliwick decides to try touching the barrier with his hand. As he feels the wall he begins to lose his senses as if they are being pulled into the barrier. He manages to overcome the feeling and pull away. After this occurs, the barrier seems to lighten between two of the large spikes in the ground. A figure comes into view and steps through the lighter section. We talk with him about the town being unhappy they have taken the girl. He tells us that she came willingly and the barrier is for privacy so that they can hold a rite of passage for her as she joins their group. They also feel they have overstayed their welcome and tell us they will be leaving after the ritual is complete. With that he heads back into the barrier which becomes dark all around once again. Having nothing else they can do to remedy the situation, they report back to the townsfolk. The Reckless Renegades head to the inn to rest for the night and plan to leave for Monta in the morning.
