Work Begins

The morning begins with Beckett and Rivvikyn discussing their options in The Beholder and The Butcher over some ale. An armored man walks in and after looking around spots the two of them as they stand out from the locals. He approaches and introduces himself as Amos Ringenberg and proceeds to buy a round for them. While he is at the bar a large half-orc comes in and similarly approaches the table to introduce himself as Kin Soma. The party is quickly growing. Rivvikyn catches the two up on the tasks given to him by the Sherriff and Mayor. Kin is eager to begin the investigation of the robberies and asks the barkeep, Milo, about them. Milo answers their questions and they learn there is a single main trade route through town and points them to a pair of dwarves in the tavern who were recently robbed. Kin and Amos approach the pair who are more than happy to answer questions after a round of ale. The party learns the group of bandits is 4 or 5 strong taking advantage of unguarded wagons. The dwarves were carrying Eshara effigies to sell at the festival that their kin made, as they have been doing yearly for quite some time. Their robbery occurred North of Freystrand, from further into the Carcean Confederation (this is to the right on the Freystrand map).

The party leaves the tavern in search of Sherriff Irons and find him wandering the streets and proceed to ask him if he knows of any locations nearby where a small group could hide a large amount of goods such as a cave or abandoned farmhouse. He is adamant the bandits are from the Kingdom of Nul despite having no evidence. His hatred of them runs deep for the sole reason they worship The Order of the Black Sun as opposed to The Divine Assembly. Failing to get any sort of reliable lead, the group decides to head to the East Slums to look for someone a little more likely to partake in the trade of questionably sourced goods. They ran into a shady looking man who was happy to tell them all he knew of the aliens he is regularly seeing around the area. It was quite possible he was simply referring to orcs but the group quickly moved on. Not having heard of any likely hiding place besides the rarely traveled mountain passes a weeks ride to the North, the group decides it is best to shift their focus to a different task for the time being.

After some discussion they decide to begin collecting the supplies necessary to build the market stalls and find the Mayor to ask about borrowing a cart. The Mayor suggests asking a merchant to use theirs and so the group returns to the dwarves and convinces them to lend their cart. Amos assures them they will return it with the stolen goods when they are finished with it and the dwarves promise him an Eshara effigy if they succeed. In the morning the group is introduced to a gnome by the name of Eliwick Duststache Syldri who asks to join them. So they set out with the cart to the nearest sawmill outside the village and place an order for poles and planks for the stalls. They decide to leave the cart their and will return in 3 days to gather their completed order. As they head back into Freystrand the begin to hear a commotion as they get nearer to the town square. The first thing they see is a row of carts headed by ominous figures who are arguing with Sherriff Irons. Suddenly the cover on the first wagon is pushed back and a robed figure slowly rises.
