The Path to Monta

In the morning Kin and Bash felt it was best if they stayed in Freystrand to help with the festival as we had promised. This allowed the rest of the Reckless Renegades to continue on to Monta. We decided it would be best to follow the roads, taking 2-3 days to arrive, but allowing us to somewhat rest our weary selves after our rush back to Freystrand. With no one in town having claim to one of the wagons we returned, we took it for ourselves, bought supplies, and were even given a few rewards for our work thus far. The first days journey was uneventful, thankfully as we all needed a rest. Our first night we set up camp off the road and had a watch throughout the night but encountered no one.

The following day Beckett spent the morning tinkering with his construct. Around mid-day we saw multiple smoke columns ahead. We sensed we were not near enough to Monta for them to be coming from the city so we stashed the wagon and slowly crept closer, fearing we would come upon the remains of an ambush. As we got near we could hear the sounds of people casually milling about, horses whinnying, metal clangs of anvil work. It seemed to be an outpost of sorts and not just a large camp along the road. Beckett snuck even closer and was able to see an Ushund military banner. Feeling reassured, Amos retrieved the horses and wagon as the rest of the party entered the outpost. None of the 40 or so soldiers payed any attention to us as we walked further toward the middle. It was quite obvious we had found the one in command as we approached him while he gave orders. We introduced ourselves to Kale of the United Carcean Military and his second in command, a woman named Brynn.

We found they were in the midst of setting up in the outpost on their way to Freystrand. After informing them of all the issues with bandits and the Kingdom of Nul going on there, we asked if they knew anything about the Moonstone Oracle. It just so happened that Kale was friends with a woman named Seraphina who he felt could help us in our search once we got to Monta. He wrote a note for her explaining the situation and offered to let us stay the night.
