Splitting Up

From across the river the party could see a pair of guards with their dogs outside what they believed to be the entrance. We briefly explore further upstream to see if there was a better location to cross and attempt to enter the cave but could not find one we liked better. In the end the decision was made to head back downstream and cross unseen and unheard before approaching the guards at the entrance. By the time we get within sight of them there are two more figures there talking with the guards. Bash sneaks up closer to attempt to listen in but was heard. Two of them started heading toward Bash and another turned to mist and began flying higher. We quickly decided to give Weyland his weapon back and heal him up while Beckett used a mage hand to toss a stone into the river. Bash used the opportunity to head back to the rest of us while two of the figures headed toward the river. The remaining creature however continued tracking Bash towards the rest of us. Before any of us could make a move it grabbed Eliwick and started dragging him to the cave entrance. Amos and Kin sprang forward and pulled Eli free but then Amos was grabbed and pulled closer to the cave. Knowing we could not win this battle, Kin stepped forward and spoke to the guards and figure who turned to mist. Beckett followed as well and along with Amos and Kin, agreed to enter the cave to speak to the Crimson Smile. Bash, Eliwick, and Rivikyn manage to stay hidden with Weyland. As we enter the cave, our Sending Stones activate.
